About

The Site

Rollings Reliable began as a website for me to catalog recipes I try out in the kitchen.  Several years ago I spent my time baking and occasionally cooking.  I was constantly trying to find a way to keep track of recipes I’d experimented with.  I wanted to keep photos, along with notes, but didn’t want the cost of printing them out.   Notebooks kept getting soiled and there was no way to index them to my OCPD desires.  So I decided to start a little blog for keeping track of it.  The name comes from my favorite childhood story and is the title of a company that manufactures Baking Powder.

Now RR has become a place for me to share more than just recipes.  I have real life adventures, the occasional melodrama, craft projects, internet challenge memes and entire feasts of food.

The Girl

I’m a 23 year old college graduate still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with my life.  My problem isn’t a lack of inspiration but rather a plethora of doors I want to open.  I left UC Davis with a degree in Biotechnology, a passion for Food Science and love for all things Science Fiction.  The ideal life would be a marriage of three, tossed in with some of my interest in the Film/Television Industry, but even then I’d find some more things to steal my interest away.

For now the plan is to get a few years of real life lab experience before attempting to enter Graduate School.  I’m fairly dedicated to the realm of Food Science now, with over a dozen textbooks on the subject that I read for fun.   Patent Law as it applies to the world of Biotechnology holds a lot of fascination for me as well, though I’m not sure I’d want to dedicate my life to it.  At least not yet.

Meanwhile I still seem to be afflicted with a serious case of “Wanderlust” that is muted by a lack of funding.  If I ever meet a man with a flying blue box though…well then things will get pretty damn interesting.

My blogroll tends to be full of references to Popular Nerd Culture, Joss Whedon, British Comedy, Nerdy Celebrities and my secret wish to become the star of my own SyFy channel tv series…all while still finding time to cook and bake.

This sums up who I am perfectly.

  10. Hey,
I’ve noticed you write a lot of great content about food and general exploration of your world. I’m working for a new start-up called HeyLets and we’re trying to get people excited about doing what you do. We want our users to rediscover their city through mini-recommendations from people with similar interests and hopefully pay it forward. I was wondering, would you be interested in sharing some of your positive experiences in your community with us? We’d love to hear what you have to say and help you promote your blog.
